From Jeli to the World: Inspiring Young Innovators at RoboNellang Challenge 2025

At Planters International Berhad, we believe innovation begins with curiosity, creativity, and courage. This year, we proudly sponsored a team of students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Batu Melintang, Jeli, Kelantan, led by their dedicated mentor Teacher Mohamad Najmunddin bin Mohamad Alwi, to compete in the RoboNellang Challenge 2025 at UC TATI, Terengganu.

A Stage for Young Talent

The RoboNellang Challenge, held on 22–23 August 2025, brought together bright young minds from across Malaysia to design, build, and program robots weighing less than 500 grams. Guided by their teachers, students competed in intense rounds of creativity, engineering, and problem-solving.

For the SMK Batu Melintang team, the competition was more than a test of skill — it was a platform to showcase resilience, teamwork, and imagination. Teacher Najmunddin’s guidance played a crucial role in transforming classroom curiosity into real-world innovation, proving how mentorship can ignite the sparks of future inventors.

Nurturing the Next Generation of Innovators

The objectives of the RoboNellang Challenge resonate with our own mission at Planters:

  • Encouraging young people to embrace technology and robotics.

  • Cultivating critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork.

  • Providing practical exposure to the use of microcontrollers, coding, and automation.

These are the same principles we apply in our environmental work, where we leverage satellite monitoring, IoT sensors, and data-driven solutions to conserve forests, restore rivers, and combat climate challenges.

From Local Classrooms to Global Impact

By supporting SMK Batu Melintang’s participation, we are not just helping a team enter a robotics competition. We are investing in the future of Malaysia’s youth — future scientists, engineers, and innovators who may one day pioneer world-class solutions to global challenges.

Just as Planters International advances technology to protect the environment, these students are learning to harness technology to shape a better tomorrow. We believe that with the right guidance and opportunities, children from Jeli today can become world-class innovators tomorrow.
