Kuala Lumpur — Planters International Berhad is pleased to announce the appointment of Prof. Simon Cyril Leunig as Non-Executive Director, effective 8 September 2025.

Prof. Simon Leunig is an Australian academic leader and senior institutional advisor with extensive experience in higher-education leadership, governance, and international collaboration. He is widely respected for his contributions to university management, strategic planning, and the development of education systems that support long-term social and economic progress.

Throughout his career, Simon has held senior leadership and advisory roles within universities and public institutions across Australia, the United Kingdom, and Southeast Asia. His work has focused on institutional reform, research strategy, policy engagement, and cross-sector partnerships, strengthening the link between education, industry, and sustainable development.

With deep experience in governance frameworks, organisational strategy, and impact-driven programme design, Simon brings valuable perspective to Planters as the company advances large-scale forest, river, and coastal restoration initiatives supported by blended finance and international partnerships.

As Non-Executive Director, Simon will advise the Board on corporate governance, education-industry collaboration, socio-economic impact frameworks, and strategic partnerships, reinforcing Planters’ commitment to credible governance and long-term sustainability outcomes.
