Planters International Berhad Welcomes Enyen Cheong as Non-Executive Director

Kuala Lumpur — Planters International Berhad is pleased to announce the appointment of Enyen Cheong as Non-Executive Director, effective 8 September 2025.

Enyen Cheong

Enyen brings more than two decades of leadership experience in technology, cloud, and sustainability across the Asia-Pacific region. A Malaysian engineer at heart and an accomplished business leader, he has been widely recognised for driving AI-driven innovation, hybrid-cloud solutions, and sustainable digital transformation.

As Data, AI and Sustainability Solutions Lead for Microsoft Asia, Enyen led multi-country teams accountable for over US $2 billion in regional revenue, achieving major wins with Petronas, Maybank, TNB, and the Digital Ministry of Malaysia — alongside major partners in Japan and Taiwan.

He was instrumental in delivering the first generative-AI sustainability use case in Asia, integrating disparate data sources with automation and Agentic AI. Under his leadership, Microsoft’s total cloud-revenue mix rose from 12 percent to 36 percent within 18 months, while the number of hybrid-cloud customers doubled region-wide.

Before his regional leadership role, Enyen served as Hybrid Cloud and Intelligent Edge Solutions Lead (Microsoft Asia), Cloud Solutions Lead (Microsoft Taiwan), and General Manager of Moderntech Solutions. His earlier career included key positions at JDSU Corporation, Ericsson, and Orange (UK) — equipping him with a broad international outlook across telecommunications, digital infrastructure, and enterprise technology.

A tri-lingual Malaysian based in Taiwan, Enyen holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Warwick, an MSc in Telecommunications Technology from Aston University, and a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Electronics (Telecommunications) from Multimedia University.

As Non-Executive Director, Enyen will provide strategic oversight and innovation guidance to strengthen Planters’ evolution into a technology-enabled conservation enterprise. His appointment underscores the Board’s commitment to blending digital intelligence with environmental stewardship, advancing Planters’ mission to build resilient, data-driven solutions for forest, river, and coastal-ecosystem restoration.
