Secret Recipe Cultivates 125 Young Environmental Stewards Through Compost Contribution to Tadika MAIWP Kids TTDI
Briefing to the teachers and students of Tadika MAIWP Kids TTDI by Shawn Sim, Environmental and Sustainability Manager at Secret Recipe
KUALA LUMPUR, 4 August 2026 – Sustainability begins with education, and some of the most meaningful lessons are learned by caring for something that grows. In support of environmental education and community wellbeing, Secret Recipe Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd., in collaboration with Planters International Berhad, has contributed 150 packs of compost to Tadika MAIWP Kids TTDI, empowering every child to experience hands-on sustainable gardening.
The contribution has been thoughtfully designed to ensure that each of the kindergarten's approximately 125 students receives compost to nurture their own vegetable plant, while the remaining packs will support teachers and staff in maintaining the school's garden, replacing seasonal crops and sustaining future planting activities.
Rather than simply receiving gardening materials, every child becomes the caretaker of a living plant, learning first-hand how healthy soil supports healthy food. Through this experience, students gain an appreciation of where food comes from, the patience required to grow it and the responsibility of caring for the environment.
The initiative also introduces young learners to the principles of the circular economy. Compost demonstrates how organic materials that might otherwise become waste can be transformed into nutrient-rich resources that nourish new plant life. By witnessing this natural cycle, children develop a practical understanding of waste reduction, resource efficiency and environmental stewardship from an early age.
Beyond cultivating vegetables, the programme helps foster awareness of food security by encouraging children to participate in growing their own food. These simple gardening activities strengthen their connection with nature while promoting healthier lifestyles, sustainable consumption and greater appreciation for the ecosystems that support everyday life.
The contribution further equips teachers and staff with resources to integrate environmental learning into daily classroom activities, ensuring that sustainability becomes an ongoing educational journey rather than a one-off event.
Tadika MAIWP Kids TTDI expressed its sincere appreciation to Secret Recipe Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd. and Planters International Berhad for their generosity and commitment towards environmental education. The kindergarten acknowledged that the contribution will enrich nature-based learning while instilling responsibility, care for the environment and sustainability values among its students.
For Planters International Berhad, the initiative reflects the belief that meaningful conservation begins with empowering communities, especially children, to become active participants in protecting the environment. By connecting responsible corporate contributions with practical environmental education, partnerships such as this create lasting benefits that extend far beyond the classroom.
While the donation comprises 150 packs of compost, its greatest impact lies in nurturing a new generation of environmentally conscious citizens. Every vegetable planted, every seedling cared for and every harvest celebrated represents another step towards building a future where sustainability, food security and circular resource management become everyday habits rather than distant aspirations.
